Final Crit

When discussing my final outcome with the group a variation of criticisms were made about the book's design.

Firstly it was stated that the acetate didn't work effectively in the format in which it has been expressed, widely due to the fact that it is difficult to navigate and feels somewhat unprofessional. The overlapping of the acetate against non-corresponding pages also causes the design to appear illegible in parts, a factor in which would not allow it to be manufacturable as it currently stands.

Although the structure itself was condemned, the concept behind the splitting of languages appeared as a  highly prominent design aspect. And that although the spiral bound does not really work as a construction method (due to the acetate forming on the previous page) it allows the two languages to be separated causing for an easy read.

Small typographical errors were pointed out, a factor in which I should have got others to check before I printed my final design, a factor in which I will highly consider within the future designs.

The minimalistic approach was stated to to be insightful but not draw attention away from the stories themselves. The block imagery was said to be impactive but somewhat boring, a factor in which may be amended with an alteration in colour pallete.

Overall, the main criticism for the book were that of the structure, with the overlays being the key issue expressed.
