Figure/Ground

Image and text are two important components within editorial design, with a main focus being upon balance. The above designs explore two differing ways in which image and type may be combined. The first design centralises the protagonist in which the text then assembles around and thus making the image the influential factor within this piece. Whereas the second design explores the overlapping of text and image, whereby the protagonist appears less important than the text. These factors should be considered when developing a piece.
