Valeriane uses bright colours and exaggerated illustrations in order to promote Wales as a friendly, idyllic place. The designs play on the individual characteristics of the architecture present, suggesting a rustic atmosphere. In turn forcing Wales to appear very traditional, this then being embedded further with protagonists wearing conventional welsh clothing.
As my book is focusing widely on location, and pushing traditional tales to a modern audience I do not personally feel that these designs would be appropriate as they promote a very light, un realistic atmosphere.
