Group discussion-showing initial ideas

The below images express some of the designs taken to the discussion.

When discussing our work with one another it became apparent that certain aspects of our designs correlated. One of the specific relationships was that of a sci-fi/futuristic approach. We found that our designs expressed sharp shapes and a similar typeface. In order to keep our designs consistent we decided upon a strict format in which we would follow this consisted of a typeface, colour scheme, and specific concept.

-The outlined concept was that of the sci-fi genre.

-We decided that a black and white colour scheme would allow our design to appear informative and would not distract from the art pieces.

-The typeface chosen was that of sevastopol.

Why sevastopol?

We decided upon sevastopol as it expresses a high technological approach which is often displayed within that of sci-fi genres. The typeface itself is very decorative and thus minimal design should be used in order to ensure the deisgn is not overpowered.

Stroke and line width was explored, with an agreement that the typeface should work purely in capitals as otherwise it appears extremely difficult to read. It was also stated that Helvetica should be used as body copy in order to contract against the highly lavish typeface, and to also promote legibility.
