Visiting the building

When visiting the picture house it became evident that it appeared very different at night than during the day. As a result of this the buildings features were analysed during each period, with the buildings aesthetic being analysed.

At Night

At night lights have been used in order to highlight the picture houses name, and upper windows. The 'outer' ticket desk is also highlighted. Once the picture house is closed diamond shaped shutters are pulled down in order to promote security. Although mass graffiti and burglaries occur within Hyde Park, no research suggested that the picture house had been damaged. I believe this is a result of the community having mass respect for the building.

In the day

The picture house's key features appear initially present when looking at the building within the daytime. The place name instantly stands out, as it is placed upon a white stone. The pillars are essential as they allow the building to appear open. The entire building is visually absorbed, with architecture being a key presence.
