Deciding upon a process

When deciding upon a traditional process to use, key considerations had to be made. These include contextual reasonings and practical reasonings, such as the time process etc.

As Hyde Park Picture House is over 100 years old, I felt that it would be most appropriate to develop a design in which uses a process of around this period. When researching into ww1 propaganda poster it became evident that lithoprint was highly used. Although this method is not available within university, alternative options may be explored. Other poster printing methods of the time included that of screenprint, and therefore this may be an option.

When thinking about the pros and cons of the methods available to myself, it became evident that each process had different positives. As a result of this the below mindmap was formatted, in turn visually recording these criticisms.

From this it was decided that monoprint and screenprint would be the best solutions. As screenprint allows for concise details and typography to be expressed, this would therefore allow a clean and concise poser design. Although monoprint is much less predictable, I decided that this would be a format in which would be good to explore with as it allows for a textured approach.
