Research into target audience

In order to complete research it was decided to specifically outline who my target audience is by gaining a greater insight into those who reside in Britain.

First of all it must be outlined that the cards are attempting to be open to any sex/religion/culture. As a result of this no sexual orientation must be expressed within the cards, nor religious holidays.

The below information is taken from the 2011 census

From this information it is evident that the main religion within the UK is Christianity of all domains, with the following religions appearing in this order: Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Buddhism, other, and non. From gaining this information it is pertinent that these religions are quickly summarised in terms of what they find offensive etc. The below sources have been gained from the internet, and thus may not be completing correct. Especially as some individuals approach religion in a subjective mannerism, for example some christians believe in abortion.

Christianity
-Inappropriate figures of God etc.
-Taking gods name in vain
-Abortions are risqué topics.
-adultery
-premarital sex

Islam

-Gambling

-Tattoos
-Eating or washing with your left hand.
-Showing hair or skin in public (female)
-adultery
-stealing
-pre-marital sex

Hinduism
-eat beef
-kill cows
-adultery
-stealing

Judaism

-Some foods that Jews are forbidden to eat include pig products, such as pork, bacon and ham, seafood that has neither fins nor scales, such as lobster, crab or scallops, and anything that flies in swarms, such as insects. The Jewish dietary laws are called kashrut.
-adultery
-premarital sex

Buddhism
-Buddhism has no set dietary laws like those in Judaism or Islam, but some schools of Buddhism discourage followers from eating meat, fish and other animal-derived ingredients. Additionally, some sects of Buddhism in China and Vietnam do not eat garlic, onion or leek.

From completing this task it is evident that some topic areas should not be illustrated through the designs, this including sexual activities, and animal food products.
