Book covers that are non fiction (6)


-Upside down text makes the book more engaging, and allows for a design in which stands out on the shelf. 
-A mature style of illustration has been used in order to target the correct market. 
-A cold atmosphere has been created due to the turquoise used. 


-The consumer's attention is drawn to the text, as the imagery points towards it
-The black star theme relates to some form of mystery.
-Square text has been used to embed the genre further. 


-Dark colours have been used to embed the idea of danger/strange going on's 
-grey sky dictates mystery 


-generic blood drops in order to connote some form of murder.
-Serif typeface expresses some form of historial relation to that of the 'queen'
-Grey suggests a cold approach 




-Strong typeface, which appears in blocks, expresses strength, anger and stubbornness. 
- The black and red suggest a dark nature and multiple killings
-The gold suggests some form of wealth/royalty


-A sense of mystery is expressed throughout the books design with stars appearing present
-Forms of 'wanderlust' are highlighted. 



-Red and blue express a juxtaposition in feelings 
-Clear foreground, mid and background-makes the books design far more interesting. 


Trends 


  • Both serif and sans serif typefaces are used depending upon the metanarrative of the book. 
  • Rule of thirds is frequently used 
  • Greys are frequently used in order to connote darker elements of a book's narrative
  • Blood is again a key theme although highly generic 
  • Illustrations are often used more than photographs
