Etta James at last album cover evaluation

The cover of the "at last" album clearly communicates the artist, depicting an image of Etta situated underneath the album title. Both the typography and image convey a mutual impact, and thus it is not evident whether the design is image or text heavy. Both typefaces used can be characterised as san serifs, impactful in nature and highly visible from a distance. Etta's name is characterized suggesting that the artist herself is far more attractive to the consumer than the product. This may also be suggested by the presence of image within this design.

The body language in which Etta possesses exhibits sophistication and style, both factors in which may be applied to her singing capabilities. The usage of minimal makeup advocates prestige, as her longful glance has become somewhat influential within the 20th, and 21st century. Other interpretations of this emblematic gesture is that the positioning of Etta, demonstrates the empowerment in which the music industry has given her. It may also be proposed that Etta is envisioning a future in which all races are equal.
