Gift bag primary research (2)

As I was unsure what factors draw young people to gift bags a survey was conducted. This was left within the classroom with the following results being made. Key questions were asked in which may influence the design.

Firstly the participants were asked whether they actually buy gift bags. The vast majority stated that they did, with comments later being made in which suggest that gift bags are often bought as no wrapping is then needed. It was also suggested that a gift bag is far easy to transport from shops.

When discussing the form of the gift bag it became evident that portrait bags are more liked than that of landscape, although I would suggest this is due to the individuals personal preference. Whether handles should be included was noted with the response being varied. A few participants stated that it is easier to transport the bag if handles are present. With this in mind I feel as if my design should contain some handle aspect.

When discussing the aesthetic of the bag research found that a 'two tone' approach is often effect, although it may be worth exploring with both.

From the research gathered it is evident that certain design traits appeal more to a younger audience. Practicality is key, with handles being an example of this. It was also found that a younger audience often prefer buying gift bags rather than wrapping the present. This information will be used to help aid my design decisions.
