Gift bag aesthetic (4)

As the structure of the bag has now been formulated the aesthetic has to now be decided upon. Not only was the front of the bag discussed but also the side panels in order to express a strong, innovative design. The idea of using previous iconography was discussed in order to allow the set to maintain consistency. When asking my peers about this they suggested that a piece of iconography from the card may be brought over and used within the new design. As this had previously occurred with the note set envelope I felt that this may be an area in which o explore.

Design ideas were formulated in which follow the same cut and paste style that has been mimicked throughout the rest of the collection. A variety of ideas were explored through small sketches these including a streamer effect, flowers, cakes, hearts, stripes, balloons and a party hat. Many of the design ideas use iconography from that of the card set in order to formulate further continuity. When discussing this with my peers they suggested that I should definitely consider using previous iconography.

In relation to previous comments key iconography was explored in the context of a gift bag. The heart design, flower and streamers were all explored. With the streamer approach it was contained only upon the sides of the bag due to the strong impact of the design feeling somewhat overpowering. When discussing these designs with my peers they suggested that the streamer approach should be used as it has been maintained within both the cards and the note set, and thus continuity would be expressed amongst the set. They also suggested that the usage of a block colour on the front, and pattern on the side would be an effective way in which to break up the strong pattern.
