Aesthetic and form are the two key components in which influence a gift bags design and will be the areas in which my design will focus.
The shape and fastening mechanisms of the bag's design is what allows them to be so interesting, and to stand out against other designs. The shapes used aren't traditionally rectangle and thus the design appears far more interesting than that of a traditional approach. The folded approach is niche and when applied to the newspaper style connotes a homemade nature.
Although a traditional shape and format this designs aesthetic allows it to stand out against the crowd. The engagement of the illustration to that of the handles is effective and allows for a product in which feels whole.
Although a traditional structure, the way in which the bag has been cut allows for a fresh new perspective. The slit is elegant and appears feminine due to its soft, drapped nature. Ribbon has also been used in order to express traditional feminine materials.
The structure of this bag allows for both a sealed or open approach. The scallop nature of the cut expresses femininity. the cut also allows for a simple design to appear far more engaging.
A folded approach has been used in this instance in order to highlight the laser cut approach. Brown paper has been used throughout in order to express a recycled feel in turn making the consumer feel as if they are doing good.
Rather than including extra materials for a handle this design incorporates the handle within its design. This allows for a more environmentally friendly approach, as well as making the design appear more interesting.
The two above approaches follow that of a traditional approach. The side of the bag often contains a different style of illustrations/block colour than the rest of the design in order to make the design more visually pleasing.
The given measurements do not express whether the bag must be landscape or portrait and therefore it is my decision upon which may to formulate this. This will be explored extensively within my initial drawings.
