Poster research

Typographical posters

Typography is key to poster design as this allows the consumer knowledge upon the event as well as the key point of the poster. This also gives a focal point to the poster design. Legibility is key although less legible types may be used in order to promote a more postmodern design. As Hyde park picture house is a classical edwardian building, it may be suggested that a modernist design would be most effective, as this would highlight the modern and on trend users who visit the building.

Typographical film posters

Purely typographical poster designs can be effective as they express all relevant details. To complete a poster design of this category it is essential that the type present is not too small as this lowers the effectiveness of the poster and makes it difficult to consume. It is also essential that hierarchy is present in order to allow the key focus point to stand out. This also guides the consumer to the most relevant information first.
