Research brief

Creative challenge:

Unlike the previous briefs partaken, the research brief will not be initially determined until topics of interest have been outlined, and a problem has been highlighted. This problem will then be analysed, broken down and attempted to be resolved through a graphical output.

A range of problems were outlined that may be used as a basis of the project. These include ethical issues, ranging from environmental to cultural concerns.

Drawing from the list it became evident that I was actively more interested in some subject matters than others, and thus these have been further dissected.

Two topic areas: feminist related issues and Animal cruelty were listed, with conjoining comments being made. At this stage it became apparent that I was actively concerned with issues relating to feminism and wanted to explore this further; both to educate others and myself.

In conjunction to the previous lists, a further mindmap was completed relating to feminist issues. Evidently, there are lots of issues that must be tackled, although graphical outcomes may not be suitable for them all. In accordance to this, I have decided to gain further research into the following topic areas: the gender pay gap, rape culture, witches, tampon tax and abortions.

When discussing these ideas with my peers they suggested that the gender pay gap may be an interesting route, as although it is popular it is still apparent, and it must be discussed as to why.
