Packaging design: Discussion and sketches

At the same stage of the logos completion, a brief discussion was undergone with the brewers surrounding what they would like from the packaging design, with the brief being very open.

They suggested that the name of the ale, a small description, its percentage and the brewery logo should all be clearly represented on each packaging design.

For example,

Pantry – Bara Brith Stout (9%)

Pantry is a strong stout that uses the flavours of the traditional welsh cake, bara brith. It has a deep rich flavour containing notes of mixed fruit and spices such as cinnamon and ginger all underpinned by a base note of deep roasted malts.

Adjacent to this it was discussed that the packaging design should create a visual representation of the flavours, creating distinct differences between stouts/pale ales etc. The brewers also suggested that they much liked illustrative packaging giving magic rock as a key example.

Other than this information the brief was extremely open, giving myself some further areas to research.
