CAD Development

From the secondary drawings, the client suggested that they preferred the landscape approaches and thus these were further developed.

  • focuses upon a traditional ticket design
  • tear off section
  • all information contained within a square
  • contemporary typeface

  • Second design mimics the shape shape as the first
  • tear off strip
  • lighter grid system-appears more upper market
  • contemporary typefaces

Feedback from client

After developing the above approaches feedback was gained by the client who suggested that she preferred the second design as she felt its aesthetic was more suiting to the bar. She also went onto suggest that further alterations should be made, these have been listed below.

  • Change the time to '8 till late'
  • Remove the reference to 'The Fat Rabbit' in the grid, and instead add the logo at the bottom
  • Include the date within the grid
  • add free drink to the ticket

In conjunction to the feedback, further design ideas were explored. Kerning was a key factor in which was manipulated in order to gain a stronger portfolio piece and convey a contemporary design style.

  • A range of typefaces were explored, all attempting to mimic the rustic style
  • The logo was added to comply to the clients needs
  • Iconography was added to again apply to the clients needs
  • Stroke weight was explored with in order to create hierarchy

  • Typefaces in which showcase the type outlines were explored with although these made the design feel unbalanced, removing the trust associated with the brand
  • The logo colour was altered in order to allow it to stand out. This was disapproved of by the client and thus will be reverted back to its original colour.

  • Terms and conditions were added with hierarchy being implemented through stroke width. This is to ensure that the consumer does not miss the deal
  • Two different typefaces were explored for the numbers although this did not represent a strong, dependable business and thus this will be altered.

  • Kerning/leading was explored with in order to comply to contemporary design trends
  • Sizing was altered in order to add negative space to the ticket-making the text stand out.

  • Design elements were added to the tear off token in order to clearly represent its purpose.
  • Colour and type were explored at this stage promoting legibility

Feedback from client

At this stage feedback was again gained by the client who suggested that the text should completely fill the grid expressed. She then went onto say that she did not like the 1 element of the token and that this should be removed.

  • Kerning was explored using a grid system in order to ensure precision
  • My own technical skills were explored with at this stage

  • contemporary type
  • aesthetically pleasing
  • easy to read
  • brand identity clearly visible
  • tear off drinks token
