Editorial research

Bright and bold, this editorial design instantly grabs the consumers attention. lines have been used in order to section the pages, drawing the consumers attention towards the image. This making for a visually pleasing design piece.

Using a double exposure effect, the magazines aesthetic is highly interesting, as it rebels against the norms. The two-tone effect also makes the imagery stand out, from the contrasting page.

Although exploring minimalism, the above design is highly impactful. The usage of a drawn-out grid system allows the consumer to instantly gather the relevant information. As only 3 colours are present, I would suggest that this design uses colour to its advantage.

Bold, bright and colourful. This design explores colour and shape, in a format in which emphasises the body copy. Yellow is a key colour used, this making the design appear lively. A key characteristic in which I would like to draw, to my publication.

The overwritten aspect of this design appears to add personality. Moving the design away from traditional, minimalist publications.

Although I believe the above spread is impactive, I would suggest that if all spreads of this publication followed the same photographic style it would be less effective, as little depth is made.

Boxes are a key design use in which highlight relevant information, making it easier for the consumer to gather.

When text and image overlap the page division, it allows for the design to be seen as a whole, not a segregation. Although this may cause difficulties when printing.

By highlighting relevant information, key statistics stand out to the consumer. This making for a more interesting read of body copy.

The different coloured stock makes the design visually pleasing.  As well as making each page a fresh innovation.
